Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026.
This policy is part of the Terms of Service. It applies to everyone who uses Gigahost, renters and providers, and to anyone they let use their instances. The account holder answers for what an instance does.
Illegal content and activity
No illegal content and no illegal activity, under the law that applies to you, to us (Thailand) or where the host runs. For example:
- child sexual abuse material, which we report to the authorities;
- infringing copyright or other people's rights;
- phishing, fraud, and distributing malware;
- selling or offering illegal goods or services.
Port scanning
No scanning of hosts or networks you do not own or have written permission to test, whether for open ports, services or vulnerabilities. Scanning your own instances and systems is fine.
Scanning puts the addresses of shared gateways and hosts on blocklists and harms other renters. The platform may detect scanning traffic and limit or block it.
Email spam
No unsolicited bulk or commercial email, no mailing to bought or scraped lists, and no open mail relays.
Outgoing connections to ports 25 and 465 are blocked by default (Mail (external site)). Support lifts the block for an account that runs a legitimate mail server, on the condition that it sends no spam, and may block it again if it does.
Attacks on others
No denial-of-service attacks, intrusion into systems you have no permission to access, brute-forcing of logins, or credential stuffing, from or through an instance.
Proxies and relays
No Tor exit nodes and no open proxies or relays that anyone can use, on any address, a Dedicated IP included: some of the networks the hosts run on do not allow them, and the blocklists and abuse reports they draw fall on everyone near the address.
A VPN, a proxy for your own use or your own users behind a login, and a Tor relay that is not an exit are fine.
Harming the platform
- No attempts to break out of an instance, or to interfere with hosts, gateways or other renters' instances.
- No evading metering, billing or the platform's limits.
- No fraud with trial credit, such as using several GitHub accounts to receive it more than once.
What is allowed
The platform sells CPU time and traffic, so using them is what it is for: heavy CPU use, cryptocurrency mining, peer-to-peer nodes, VPNs and Tor relays that are not exits are all allowed, within this policy and the law.
Enforcement
When an instance breaks this policy, we may stop it, limit or block its traffic, or suspend the account, as the Terms of Service say under When we restrict a service: no more than is needed, with the reasons, and with a way to contest it at legal@ghostrack.io. A serious breach can end the agreement at once.
Reporting abuse
To report abuse from an instance on Gigahost, email abuse@ghostrack.io. Report abuse says what a report needs.
